How it goes

  1. Locate. Buried lines get located through BC 1 Call before any dig. It's free, and it's not optional.
  2. Dig. Dug to depth and to your layout, ready for forms or pipe.
  3. Backfill. Backfilled, compacted and graded so the site's ready for the next step.

Good to know

Rock comes up fast here

In BC well logs within 6 km of Nanaimo, bedrock shows up within 3 m in about 53% of holes, and around Yellow Point it's 64%. Up toward Parksville and Lantzville the soil runs much deeper, often 12 m or more. If your lot sits on shallow rock, it's better to know before you plan a basement.
